CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CLASS OF 2022!
THE RIDE FOR HOPE
SUMMER EVENTS AND THE RIDE FOR REFUGE
AN INVALUABLE PARTNERSHIP
June was a month of celebration at Inner Hope - culminating with our annual grad BBQ on June 22nd. Together with our staff team, mentors and their families, John Johnstone led us in a blanketing ceremony of our graduates. This ceremony is an intentional way to gather and is the highest honour given in the Coast Salish communities. It was well deserved because our youth have put in an enormous amount of work to achieve this milestone. They really beat the odds to get to this day as graduation rates among Indigenous learners in our community are still low (49% in 2021).
As a grandmother shared during the ceremony, this year’s youth are being sent out with a strong foundation and a community that surrounds and supports them as they embark on this next chapter in their journey.
It is our hope that the words from our youth’s families and friends, highlighting their unique and wonderful gifts given by our Creator God will guide each graduate as they continue their journey into adulthood.
Thank you for supporting this strong community - your love brought us to this day.

Here are some pictures from the MANY family celebrations held this month.
From August 5th to 15th, good friends of Inner Hope, Marlene Affleck and Doris Olafsen, will be jumping on their bikes and tackling the Canadian Camino.
This 700 km adventure around Prince Edward Island is to mark the 5th & 10th anniversaries of Doris’ husband Ray & Marlene’s husband John’s promotion to heaven.
To honor their husbands’ legacy, these two inspiring and determined women are challenging themselves by being intentional in raising awareness and funding. Their inspirational fundraising goal is $100,000. Funds raised will be shared equally with two organizations close to their hearts.
Inner Hope Youth Ministries is grateful to have been chosen along with the Investing Hope Foundation in Colombia. John Affleck mentored Jenny in the early days when she was helping to launch Inner Hope and Ray Olafsen helped launch the Investing Hope Foundation by serving on their inaugural board of directors.
The Investing Hope Foundation provides low-income youth, adults and faith-based communities with relevant economic tools and training to help them thrive economically and spiritually. They currently work with 3500 young people in Youth Entrepreneurship and Savings Clubs and over 1000 adults in the Groups for Entrepreneurship and Maximizing Savings.
We are privileged to be a part of Marlene and Doris’ “Ride for Hope” this summer. We invite you to follow along on their journey. If you would like to join their “joyful living joyful giving” calling, you can donate by following this link.

It is our prayer that our youth and families would experience Jesus’ love and grace through our summer activities and be drawn closer to Him.

We want to highlight an invaluable partner of ours this summer. You may not know this, but since we gained charity status in 2008, CanadaHelps has facilitated our online donation platform. For years, our online fundraisers and donations by credit card have been processed through them.
A demonstration of their exceptional support was a recent personal visit from one of their senior managers, Lucas Freose, to see how they could better support a grassroots charity like ours. We are thankful for their support which has allowed us to grow into a thriving charity and their ongoing commitment to seeing charities and non-profits across Canada succeed. |
NEW!! |
Thanks to our online donation partner CanadaHelps, we now accept donations of securities and mutual funds!
