HOUSE PARENT COUPLE
Inner Hope Youth Ministries is a Christian non-profit with a vision of hope through relationships. We journey alongside youth and their families in East Vancouver nurturing hope, belonging and growth through support, discipleship, life skills and housing. Our community supports and empowers participants from diverse backgrounds, the majority from Indigenous descent in East Vancouver. We are seeking a dynamic couple to fill the role of House Parents for Inner Hope’s housing program. This is a live-in ministry opportunity for a married couple who thrive in life-on-life ministry.
Our Home is designed for long-term stays to offer youth and young adults who are seeking support, structure and accountability in their lives the opportunity to learn, grow and increase their stability. Our House Parents foster a supportive, family-style home environment for residents aged 16-24, investing in meaningful relationships with youth and their families while managing daily house life. The Home is a substance-free house based on Christian values. The House Parent couple will reside in the home with up to four youth, modeling healthy living skills and providing an optimum level of support and discipleship. The Home also provides a safe haven for past residents, friends and family of residents, and other Inner Hope community members as time and energy allows.
While both House Parents live in the Home, one House Parent will work full-time in this capacity while the other can be in school or working (receiving a partial salary from Inner Hope). - $3,110/month + $900/respite and renewal allowance

Hours:
- The Primary House Parent must be committed and available to the home and residents on a fulltime basis; the Secondary House Parent is employed with Inner Hope and may accept other employment or schooling. Both House Parents must be committed to parenting and engaging in home life.
- Live in The Home. 2 evenings off per week + 1 weekend or 1 week off in alternating months.
Position Requirements:
- Supportive of Inner Hope Youth Ministries (IHYM) Statement of Faith
- Adherence to IHYM’s Vision, Mission and Values
- Willingness to adhere to IHYM’s code of Ethics and all staff policies
- Minimum two years of college or university
- Minimum two years of experience working or volunteering with youth, including some experience with youth facing adverse childhood experiences and/or intergenerational trauma
- Knowledge and understanding of the Indigenous community is an asset
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Character, reliability, maturity, and skill level to relate positively with youth and their families, and model responsible behaviour
- Acceptable current criminal record check
- Married couple age 25+ (House Parents must be older than residents)
- 2-year commitment minimum
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle (work-related mileage is reimbursed)
