Respite Support Worker
Our qualified respite team supports House Parents by working shifts in "The Home" during their time off. If you are flexible, ministry-minded, and passionate about serving youth, this part-time contract could be right for you!
This part-time position provides time off for the House Parent couple in Inner Hope’s supportive home for at-risk youth. When on shift, the Respite Support Worker will be responsible for fostering a supportive home environment while managing daily home life and investing in residents and any friends/family who visit. You will support in the care of up to four youth, modeling healthy life skills and providing practical support and discipleship.

Start Date: September 2018 (flexible)
Hours & Remuneration:
- 2 weeknight shifts on a regular, predictable schedule: $19/hour
- 1-hour weekly meeting with supervisor: $19/hour
- Reside at "The Home" one weekend per month or one full week per month: $200 per 24-hour period
- You will receive 2 evenings off when covering "The Home" for a week
- Must be committed and available to "The Home" and residents on a full-time basis during overnight coverage
Remuneration:
- $19.00 per hour for evenings and meetings
- $200 per 24-hour rotation for weekends/week-long coverage

Position Requirements:
- Minimum one-year commitment to the role
- Supportive of Inner Hope’s Statement of Faith
- Passionate about Inner Hope’s Vision, Mission and Values
- Minimum two years of post-secondary education (related field is an asset)
- Minimum two years’ experience working or volunteering with youth including some experience with youth at-risk
- Knowledge and understanding of Vancouver’s Indigenous community is an asset
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- The character, reliability, maturity, and skill level to relate positively with at-risk youth and families and model responsible behaviour
- Acceptable current criminal record check
- Willingness to adhere to IHYM’s Code of Ethics and all staff policies
- Valid driver’s license
