Location: Vancouver - All duties associated with this position must be carried out at The Home location. This role is not hybrid and cannot be performed remotely.

RESPITE SCHEDULE
The purpose of this role is to support the work of the Home Support Coordinators, who live and work in a 24-hour ministry context, which requires respite time and practical support for optimal health. Respite coverage is agreed upon by the Home Support Coordinators and Home Support Worker and will be consistent each week. The Home Support Coordinators and Home Support Worker will work as a team to address any scheduling conflicts or changes that could impact the weekly rhythm. Weekends and full weeks away will be booked by the Lead Home Support Coordinator and communicated to the Home Support Worker at least one month in advance.

Note: When covering The Home for a full week or more, the Home Support Worker is entitled to two paid evenings off. Respite coverage will be arranged and provided by IHYM.

Provide practical support to Home Coordinators
- Assist with the upkeep of the home (cleaning, cooking, and organizing) leaving the home tidy at the end of each shift.
- Run errands as requested by home coordinators (picking up groceries, purchasing gifts, etc).
- Assist with annual deep cleaning projects.
- Update House Coordinators if household staples are running low
- Strategize with House Coordinators about resident care and contribute to informed case management
Contribute to Growth and Development of Residents
- Provide mentorship, support, and spiritual care to the youth who reside in The Home, and friends and family of residents as needed.
- Follow monthly care plans with each resident; supporting residents to fulfil their household responsivities including weekly cooking, cleaning, and monthly room checks.
- Provide occasional transportation for residents as needed (e.g., appointments, activities, or other program-related needs)
- Undertake crisis intervention when necessary
- When covering a more than 48 hours, contribute to case management by partnering with professional supports as needed (other Inner Hope personnel, school staff, counsellor, social worker, etc.)
Community Building
- Be an actively engaged, present role model
- Maintain The Home as a safe place for all youth, guests, and staff
- Ensure appropriate supervision of residents is maintained at all times, including during any brief absence from The Home.
- Maintain community and a supportive home environment through activities within and outside The Home (e.g. social outings)
- Assist with or host celebrations for residents (birthdays, holidays, graduations, etc.) as needed
Maintain Records
- Assist in keeping resident cover sheets current (emergency contact information, medical conditions, etc.)
- Track expenses incurred during respite shifts
- For each shift, keep accurate records in ShareVision (guests, meals served, etc.) and in resident case files
- Complete Incident Reports for The Home when necessary and submit to both House Coordinators and the Director of Programs
Professional and Policy Responsibilities
- Follow all IHYM policies and procedures
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding residents, families, and organizational information
- Maintain a valid driver’s licence
Partner with IHYM staff
- Meet every two weeks with House Coordinator
- Meet monthly with Director of Programs
- Attend annual retreat for IHYM staff and contractors (Optional)
Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor

Meetings:
- Every two weeks: 1 hour with the Home Support Coordinator at a mutually convenient time
- Monthly 1 hour with the Director of Programs at an agreed upon time
- if available, the Home Support Worker would benefit from attending monthly case management meetings with the frontline team (1.5 hours paid at the standard hourly rate)
- Use available flex hours during the month to participate in a scheduled activity with Home Support Coordinators and Residents together (ie. sharing a meal, outings)
Work Schedule and Expectations
- The position includes two evening shifts per week, or at times agreed upon in advance with the House Coordinator. These shifts will total 12 hours per week, which may be scheduled as 6 hours + 6 hours or 4 hours + 8 hours, depending on program needs.
- In addition, the worker will participate in one additional hour of meetings during the second and fourth weeks of each month with the House Coordinator and the Director of Programs.
- The worker may occasionally use flex hours, as described in the job description, to support the needs of The Home. Regular evening shifts total 12 hours per week, with additional hours for meetings or program needs as required. Weekly hours may vary; however, the total hours worked must not exceed 52 hours within any four-week period.
- Coverage during statutory holidays may occasionally be required.
- The worker will cover 54 days of 24-hour coverage throughout the year
24 Hour Overnight Coverage
- Weekdays/Weekends
- -Example, from the supper hour on Wednesday until the supper hour on Friday or from the supper hour on Friday until the supper hour on Sunday once/month
- The worker will also provide one consecutive week of coverage at least twice per year to support the House Coordinators during their time away. These coverage periods are included within the total 30 days of vacation coverage (24-hour periods).
